Starting with a Blank Canvas
A blank canvas can feel both exciting and intimidating.
When I begin a new piece, I don’t focus on perfection — I focus on expression. I start with colors that reflect a certain mood, then allow the painting to evolve freely. There is no strict plan, only a direction.
Letting the Process Unfold Naturally
One of the most important aspects of my process is learning to let go. Some of the most beautiful details happen unexpectedly — a texture forming naturally, a color blending in a way I didn’t anticipate.
Stepping Back to See the Whole
I often step back to observe the work from a distance. This helps me understand how the piece feels as a whole, not just in parts.
Knowing When a Piece Is Complete
Finishing a painting isn’t about reaching a perfect point — it’s about recognizing when the piece feels complete. When nothing more needs to be added, and everything feels in harmony.
That’s when the artwork is ready.
